for a good laugh
clicked on a comedian
I’d never heard
but the third word
she said
started with a “C”

Yikes!

even though
I’ve seen every special
six times

The vulgarity
of these big dogs
shocks even me
the girl who begged
her mom for a
Salt-N-Pepa CD
in the sixth grade

Thanks for being
THE GREATEST AVERAGE AMERICAN
who offers comedy
minus profanity

Speaking of
average Americans
did you know
that our kids—
whether THE TENNESSEE KID
or the Minnesota kid—
are exposed to porn
at age 12
swearing by 11
carrying the internet
in their pockets by 10
(my daughter is 10)

And it’s all on us

Turns out
grown-ups need
role models, too
we want to cling to
what’s cool
but forty-somethings
in socks and Birkenstocks
aren’t cuttin’ it

But you?!
with your
deadpan delivery
your hard left
in a world that
goes the extra mile
to slather on the sludge—
I call that cool

Thanks for reminding us
humor doesn’t need
fluff or f*$ks

You crack us up
in a regular way
we relate to
and it really is
FULL TIME MAGIC
making the most of
our mundane days
laughing at your lack
of history knowledge

cussing
at parents
