If You're Grieving
(your pain is valid)
Be gentle with yourself
when you’re gutted
hollowed out
a ghost hovering
above your own body
looking down at
an unrecognizable
shell
of the girl—
of the life—
you once knew
Be gentle with yourself
when you can’t place
how
or when
or who you are
when you can’t connect
dates
choices
conversations
of how
this all came to be
Be gentle with yourself
when you’re suffocating
inside
an airless tank
fingerprints smudged
on glass walls
attempts to
claw out
escape the blur
of your ridiculing
reality
Be gentle with yourself
when seismic waves
of destruction
crack open
solid ground
and you collapse
as the crevasse
swallows
your sense of safety
and separates you
from truth
Be gentle with yourself
when you’re uncertain
how to fit hope
back into
endless black nights
when surely
this can’t be
your life
surely
you can’t
wake up
to this
again
and again
and
again

Yes. Beautiful needed words friend.
So many accurate phrases...fingerprints smudging as you try to claw out, how can this be the new reality?, wake to this again and again...
And so He says, come to me, all who are weary ...
